*HABIB ADEDAYO DAZZLES AS BEN AKWEGBU FC CRUISE PAST PROPEL SA IN AN EPIC FA CUP SHOWDOWN; TO PLAY PLATEAU UNITED IN SEMIS*
Fri, 22nd March, 2024
*Propel SA 1-2 Ben Akwegbu FC*
One of the fastest rising football clubs in Jos, Ben Akwegbu FC, are leaving no one in doubt of their qualities and potentials to be among the top and the best in Nigeria in no distant time.
Their performance on the pitch is a clear testament on how talented the players are and how determined they are to continue rising to the top of Nigerian football.
Yesterday, Thursday, 21st March, 2024, Ben Akwegbu FC earned themselves a chance to play against the number one team on the Plateau, Plateau United FC, who are one of the current title contenders in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, in the semi finals of the Plateau State FA Cup.
This they did by beating Propel SA 2-1 at the Jos New Stadium in the quarter final as man of the match, Habib Adedayo, opened scoring in the 20th minute with a superb finish.
Not long ago, Ben Akwegbu FC doubled their lead when Raymond Allahbamu, a pacey and skilful winger, took on two opposition players and finished exquisitely in the 35th minute to end the first half 2-0.
As second half resumes, Propel SA reduced the deficit with a good counter attacking move to creat a nervy situation in the game.
However, Ben Akwegbu FC should have scored twice in the second half but striker Mubarak was quite unlucky as two of his strikes hit the post.
The Akwegbu FC side ended the game 2-1 and booked a semi final slot against Plateau United FC on Wednesday next week where the winners will take on Mighty Jets Int’l FC (Senior) or Mighty Jets Int’l FC Feeders in the final.
Their semi final clash with Plateau United FC will no doubt be a tough nut to crack but with determination, rescillience and believe, nothing is impossible to achieve with Ben Akwegbu FC.
Recall that Plateau United FC have not tested defeat at the Jos New Stadium this season so far in the NPFL and are 4th on the table with 44 points, 2 points behind table toppers, Lobi Stars on 46.
In addition to the quality of Plateau United FC, they are the highest scoring team in the NPFL this season with their striker Albert Hilary the top goal scorer with 12.
The rise and progress of Ben Akwegbu FC could not have been possible however, without the hard work of the technical adviser, Sam Pam as well as the head coach, Joshua Zira.
With Ben Akwegbu FC, nothing is impossible!
